Hive Tracks and Bee Informed Partnership

Thom Dickson September 19, 2022

We analyzed Hive Tracks as a real world example, or case study rather, of a business. Through this study, we learned a lot about intellectual property.

The part I found quite interesting, was who actually owns the code that's being written. I learned it's not always the company that directly owns the codebase. It could still be licensed to the individual developer directly, but exclusively licensed to the company for use in the product.

This definitely opened my eyes on the complicated nature of a business structure. There's a lot more going on behind the scenes then one would think and licensing terms can impose great restrictions on what the company can do.
